RENEWING OF THE MIND – Series – 1

SETTING THE MIND ON THE SPIRIT

“And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable
and perfect, will of God.” Rom. 12:2

After we have given our bodies as a living sacrifice to the Lord, we need to surrender our mind (and the way we have been thinking) to the Holy Spirit. This forms the basis of the transformation of the soul.

“For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is
life and peace.” Rom.8: 6

The mind, as the leading part of the soul, is the deciding factor between living in the flesh or in the spirit, being able to attach itself either to the carnal things of the world or to attach itself to the spirit.

As we exercise ourselves to mind the things of the Spirit, namely the things above (Col 3:3), our whole being will in time be according to the spirit.

This implies that we have to make a quality decision to come into the discipline to turn our minds away form the world and its way of operation and allow the Holy Spirit to bring a transformation in our thinking, according to the will of God in order to live a life that is pleasing to Him.

TRANSFORMATION:

According to the Thesaurus, it means: Dramatic change, alteration, mutation, conversion, metamorphosis, transfiguration, transmutation, revolution, overhaul, remodeling, reconstruction, reshaping, reorganization, rearrangement, renewal, revamp, remaking, morphing.

The Greek Word for transformation is “METAMORPHOO”, which means: Transform, change. The natural man will always have a resistance against “change”, but knowing that this is the only way to victory, we need to make the choice.

As a PARABLE you could liken it to a caterpillar being transformed into butterfly, which doesn’t happen in a day, but happens over a period of time.

ARE YOU WILLING TO CHANGE AND BE TRANSFORMED from you carnal nature into the image of the Christ?
