New Mantle
As we are coming into a deeper consecration in this season, we need to be willing to let go of our old identity and our old familiar way of doing things.
Everything is going to be new by the Spirit and His empowering and people will recognize that we have been with Jesus as HIs glory is going to be poured out in unprecedented ways.
BRIDAL ATTIRE
The bride of Christ is going to be all-glorious within, clothed in wrought gold. The inner clothing of the bride consists of light and love in a meek and gentle spirit.
“The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. (Ps.45:13) KJV
She is clothed with the righteousness of Christ, which He wrought on the cross and which the Father has bestowed on her. This is received by faith from the hand of the Father and put on as clothing.
“She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.” (Ps.45:14) KJV
The psalmist speaks here of the work of the Holy Spirit upon the soul, which sets His image there, the partaking of the divine nature.
Let us yield to the Spirit unto the conformation into the image of Christ.
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”
Romans 8:29-30King James Version (KJV)
A new mantle is ready to be released – to be clothed in the Spirit for the “greater works”. There will be very special and specified assignments, which will require a special mantle of empowering.
If we want to receive the new empowering of the Spirit for the glory of God that is about to be released, we need to position ourselves in full focus on the Lord, allowing the Holy Spirit to do His refining work in us, while we embrace the cross, denying ourselves to be clothed with Him.
We have five instances in the Old Testament where there were special “clothings” of the Spirit of the Lord for special assignments:
1) It is used in I Chronicles 12:18 in reference to Amasai:
Then the Spirit came on Amasai, chief of the Thirty, and he said:
“We are yours, David!
We are with you, son of Jesse!
Success, success to you,
and success to those who help you,
for your God will help you.”
So David received them and made them leaders of his raiding bands.
2) It it used in 2 Chronicles 15 King James Version (KJV)
“And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.”
The Spirit of the Lord clothed Azariah with the prophetic mantle.
3) “But the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon with Himself and took possession of him.” (Judges 6:34 (AMP).
This empowering was for a special assignment of battle to lead Israel to victory. The Hebrew is, The Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon; clothed him as a robe, to put honour upon him; clothed him as a coat of mail to put a defence upon him.
4) “Then the Spirit of God clothed Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood above the people, and said to them, “Thus says God, ‘Why do you break the commandments of the LORD, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, He has forsaken you.” 2 Chron.24:20
Elisha was serving Elijah to the end, staying focused on the double portion that he was after.
When Elisha received the mantle of Elisha,he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. Then he took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan.
(2 Kings 2:12-13King James Version (KJV)
When the Spirit clothed Himself with someone in the Old Testament, it was His empowering for a special assignment, whithout which they would not have been able to fulfill their task.
When we have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, we have the endowment to walk in the full empowerment for miracles, signs and wonders, just as the disciples on the day of Pentecost. As we step out in faith, It releases a boldness as we trust in an All Powerful God.
The problem is that we do not always realize what we have received.
Are we available and ready for God to move supernaturally through us?
5 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
1 Pet.5:5-7 (KJV)
10 “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
1 Pet.5:10-11 (KJV)
“But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Rom.13: 14
“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” Rom.13:12
Someone sent me a blessing which I think sums up the picture:
“Let the Holy Ghost power insulate you, incubate you and consecrate you and your household and descendants, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.”
